Lately our travels slowed down from interstate driving to walking the edges of fields and meadows.
I found myself admiring the way the breeze moved across grass and seed heads, creating ocean movements that have been here since long before us. I noticed the way shadows and roots wove themselves together to hold the pastures firmly to the earth.
It is as if the natural world is saying, “I am here. I will always be here.”
This collection is my exploration of this experience. Making marks using warm and cool colors generate swells of movement, tucking and weaving to develop a subtle movement across the canvas. The understated strength of color and gesture remind us of those moments when cicadas sing and air currents cool our skin.
